Joel Jacob is known in the Bakersfield area as being a one-man-band sensation. Using live recorded loops, drums rigged to kick pedals and everything in between, a Joel Jacob show is nothing short of an experience. Recently, Joel has been playing with a very talented back-up band, perfectly suited to his music. Joel Jacob and the Hungry Wolves consists of Joel Jacob, Grant Neumann, Todd Bentley, and Kris Wilcox.
“From the Guthries to the Dylans and beyond – music history has plenty of travelling minstrel stories that could fill a library.
But rarely do you get a chance to discover a local, evolving talent whose stories and skills are as captivating as Joel Jacob’s. ”
– Matt Munoz, (Bakersfield Californian, 2009)
Joel Jacob’s debut CD, Makeshift Motive (2009) is available on iTunes, CD Baby, and at World Records in Bakersfield, CA.
Joel and his talented wife, Lidy also lead the worship music on Saturday nights at Olive Knolls Church’s alternative worship service, SNC. The music is lively, the atmosphere-casual, the message-real. Joel Jacob is currently hard at work in the studio, producing his debut worship album.
Joel Jacob’s first praise and worship project has been a long time coming. After releasing his debut album, “Makeshift Motive” he has been hard at work writing and arranging music for church. From the 2nd Chronicles battle cries of “Give Thanks” to the boot stomping anthem of “Here Comes the Light”, these four tracks are as much at home being blasted through your car stereo as they are being sung at church.
